Investment Studio > Objects > Browser > Favorites
As in most web browsers, favorites are URLs which you want to keep handy. The Browser object adds a twist to this concept by letting you assign symbols (shorthand names) to favorites.
To open the favorites panel,
click
in the Browser object's toolbar (or Buttons
> Favorites in the Browser object's pop-up menu).
The buttons in the favorite panel's toolbar (not to be confused with the Browser's toolbar) perform the following functions:
| Go to the selected favorite's URL. Equivalent to pressing Enter when the favorites list has input focus. | |
| Add the document panel's current URL to the list of favorites. If no favorite is selected, the new entry is created at the end of the list. If a favorite is selected, the new entry is inserted below it. | |
| Delete the selected favorite. | |
| Move up the selected favorite in the list. | |
| Move down the selected favorite in the list. | |
| Close the favorites panel. |
You can also right-click the favorites panel to open a pop-up menu with equivalent commands.
| Tip: When you click "Add", the Browser object saves both the URL and the main frame's horizontal and vertical scrollbar positions. When you click "Go", the Browser goes to the saved URL and scrolls to the saved positions. You can use this feature to center each favorite on a particular part of the target document, e.g. a stock chart. |
The favorites list can be sorted alphabetically. To sort on symbols, click the Symbol header. To sort on URLs, click the URL header. Click a second time to reverse the sort order.
To edit a symbol, select it in the list, wait a moment, then click it to open the in-place editor. Press Enter to close the in-place editor and commit to the new symbol; press Esc to abort editing and revert to the previous symbol.
