Investment Studio > Views > Downloads > Items
A download item is an entry in a download list. It tells the downloader how to retrieve raw data from one or more external sources (either local or online), how to parse the data and where to save the results.
| It's important to understand the difference between download items and data files. Download items contain data retrieval instructions, not the retrieved data. The data is kept in separate files (referenced by download items), typically in the <QUOTES> directory. |
When a download list is selected in the download list box, all items in the list are displayed in the download items panel:

In the picture above, the item
box is displaying items in the download list "US ETFs".
Of the items in view, those with symbols QQQ, DIA and BBH are
selected. The
icon preceding the DIA
item's name means that there is at least one remark (typically an error message from the
donwloader's latest update attempt) for that item.
Clicking
in
the toolbar
while the item box has input focus will cause all selected items
to be queued for updating.
| Quotes
which are updated while Investment Studio is running are not
loaded in memory (and are therefore not reflected by Grids,
Charts, Graphs etc.) until you click the Reload
quotes button in the upper right corner of
Investment Studio's main window:
This button is enabled only if at least one download item has been updated by the downloader since Investment Studio was launched. |
