Investment Studio > Views > Downloads > Overview

The following screenshot highlights the key features of the Downloads view:

The list box to the left displays the names of all download lists.

When a download list is selected, all its items are displayed in the download items panel to the right (2).

When a download list is checked in the list box, it's said to be active.

Clicking in the toolbar when the list box has input focus will cause all items in all active lists to be queued for updating. Running the downloader with the command line switch "/c" has the same effect.

Quotes which are updated while Investment Studio is running are not loaded in memory (and are therefore not reflected by Grids, Charts, Graphs etc.) until you click the Reload quotes button in the upper right corner of Investment Studio's main window:

This button is enabled only if at least one download item has been updated by the downloader since Investment Studio was launched.

The list box can also be used to sort, find, create, copy, rename, delete, update and perform other operations on lists. See the section on download lists for details.

The list box can be horizontally resized by dragging the empty space which separates it from the items panel.

The item box in the upper right part of the view displays all download items in the selected list.

When one or more items are selected, clicking in the toolbar when the item box has input focus will cause the selected item(s) to be queued for updating. Clicking in the toolbar (or Properties in the item pop-up menu) causes the single or multiple item editor to be opened, depending on the number of selected items.

The item box can also be used to sort, find, create, copy, rename, delete and perform other operations on items. See the section on download items for details.

The item box can be vertically resized by dragging the empty space just below it.

The browser below the items box is used to try URLs and view data sources. It's essentially a Browser object with some controls removed (no autorefresh, no favorites, no saving or deleting).
The toolbar provides quick access to some common functions also found in the pop-up menus for download lists and download items. Most buttons act on lists or items depending on which of the two boxes has input focus.

The exception to the rule is the setup button group: . Use these buttons to open the data parser's month names dialog and the downloader's internet setup dialog.
