Investment Studio > Setup > Gallery

The Gallery dialog is used to manage Investment Studio's repository of tiled objects (a.k.a. the <GALLERY> directory). It's subdivided in three tabbed sections (for Chart, Graph and Browser objects) and operates in two modes:

When it's opened by clicking the Gallery button (or the equivalent pop-up menu item) in a view's toolbar, the Gallery dialog lets you pick a stored object from any section supported by the view and Make

a copy of it in the view. All listed objects can also be deleted, and their names and descriptions can be edited.

When you click the Gallery > Add menu item in a Chart, Graph or Browser object's pop-up menu, a copy of the object is added to the repository and the Gallery is opened with the new object selected for editing.

In this mode, only the new object's section is displayed. You can edit the object's name and description and move it around in the object list, but you can not Make copies of it or of other stored objects.

The following screenshot highlights the key features of the Gallery dialog:

Use the buttons in the object list's toolbar to move the selected object in the object list (2) and to delete it.
The object list displays the names assigned to all objects in the selected section (Charts, Graphs or Browsers). There are no particular requirements (e.g. uniqueness) on object names. Their only purpose is descriptive.

To sort the list alphabetically, click its Name header. Click a second time to reverse the sort order.

To change the name of an object, select it, wait a moment, then click the name to open its in-place editor. Press Enter to close the in-place editor and commit to the new name; press Esc to abort editing and revert to the previous name.

The object list can be horizontally resized by dragging the empty space which separates it from the screenshot (3) and text (4) panels.

When an object is added to the Gallery, a screenshot is stored along with it. The panel next to the object list (2) displays the screenshot of the selected object.

The screenshot panel can be vertically resized by dragging the empty space below it; it can be horizontally resized by dragging the empty space which separates it from the object list. The screenshot scales to fit in the available space.

The panel below the screenshot (3) is just an embedded Notes object. Optional free-format text (e.g. detailed description, comments, tips) about the selected object can be entered here.

The text panel can be vertically resized by dragging the empty space above it; it can be horizontally resized by dragging the empty space which separates it from the object list.

Click Make to create a copy of the selected object in the view where the Gallery dialog was opened (not available if the dialog was opened by adding an object to the Gallery - see top of page).
