Investment Studio > Views > Portfolios > Managing portfolios

The toolbar in the Portfolios Grid (not to be confused with the view's toolbar) sports the standard Grid toolbar controls, plus a specialized control group with buttons for loading, creating, copying and deleting portfolios:

The buttons perform the following functions:

Load / Unload. Click for a list of all available portfolios:

Click the list header to sort the portfolios by name, symbol or currency; click again to reverse the sort order.

Check all portfolios which you want to load, uncheck all portfolios which you want to unload. Click OK to execute. Alternatively, click or press Esc to discard any changes and close the dialog.

New. Click to create a new portfolio.

If a portfolio is selected in the Grid, the new portfolio is inserted after the selected portfolio. If no portfolio is selected, the new portfolio is appended after existing portfolios.

Portfolios created with New contain no assets and have blank basic properties (name, symbol, currency). They do however inherit their Assets, Quotes, Transactions and System settings (visible controls, tiled objects, system rules etc.) from the current portfolio template (see Make template below).

Copy. Click to create a complete copy of the selected portfolio (assets, transactions, views). The new portfolio is inserted after the original.
Make template. Click to copy the selected portfolio's settings to the portfolio template. Portfolios created with New (see above) inherit their Assets, Quotes, Transactions and System settings (visible controls, tiled objects, system rules etc.) from this template.
Delete. Click to delete the selected portfolio, including all its assets, transactions, system entries and view settings (quote files are not affected).

To prevent accidental deletions, you will be presented with a confirmation menu:

To abort, click anywhere outside the menu or press Esc.

Portfolio deletion is irreversible. Deleted portfolios and their assets, transactions, system entries and view settings are permanently lost.

The Grid's toolbar (or individual control groups in it) may be hidden using the Toolbar submenu in the Grid's pop-up menu, but functional equivalents are always available in the same menu:
