Investment Studio > Objects > Tiles
Tiles are object containers which can be sized and moved around freely within a view to customize its layout. A tile has no data awareness; data is processed and presented by the hosted object, not by the tile itself.
Tiles are similar to MDI (Multiple Document Interface) document windows, but can't be minimized and are not meant to overlap. Their behaviour therefore differs from that of MDI windows when their owning view is resized: whereas MDI windows maintain their absolute positions and sizes, tiles move and rescale to maintain their relative positions and proportions within the view.
Tiles are recognized by the vertical "grip" bevel running along their left border. A tile hosting a simple line chart object may look like this:

When the bevel is raised, the
tile can be moved and resized. To reposition the tile, move the
mouse over the grip until the reposition cursor
appears, then drag it. To resize the tile, move the
mouse over the tile's border until one of the usual window resize
cursors appears, then drag it.
Double-clicking the grip bevel causes the tile to be maximized, filling the entire owning view. In this state, the grip bevel is lowered, and the tile can neither be moved nor resized:

Double-click the grip again to restore the tile to normal.
In general, the object hosted by the tile will have a pop-up menu which can be brought up by right-clicking the object and which also contains menu items to maximize and restore the tile.
The toolbars of all tiled views contain a group of buttons which can be used to autoarrange the tiles:
![]()
From left to right, clicking these buttons will cause the tiles to be cascaded, tiled horizontally and tiled vertically, respectively.
