Investment Studio > Views > Transactions > Merging

Multiple transactions in the same asset can be merged by adding up units, values and fees into a single, "summary" transaction.

To merge transactions in a date range:

1. Set the Grid to display the target asset(s). If only one asset is displayed, only transactions in that asset will be merged. If all assets in the portfolio are displayed, a summary transaction will be created for each asset with at least one transaction in the specified date range.
2. If you want the summary transaction record(s) to be inserted in a particular Grid position, select any cell in the preceding position. If no cell is selected, the summary record(s) will be appended after existing records.
3. Click in the toolbar or use Transactions > Merge in the Grid's pop-up menu to open the Merge transactions dialog:

4. Set the source date range [Start, End] and the Date of the destination (i.e. summary) transaction(s).

Click and for the first and last date in the target asset(s), respectively.

By default, Start is set to the date of the oldest transaction in the target asset(s). If a transaction is selected in the Grid, End and Date reflect its date. Otherwise, they are set to the latest transaction date in the target asset(s).

5. Make sure that the checkbox labeled Delete source transactions is not checked unless you really want the source transaction records to be deleted!
6. Click OK to merge.

If the Grid's record definition includes a string custom property called "_COMMENT", the new transaction records will use it to display a comment reflecting the source date range.

Click to close the dialog without creating or deleteing any transaction records.
